Address

"Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them." Acts 2:2-4

A Message from Rev. Linda...

Scripture

Imagine this scenario: "Hey, did you hear what's happening over on 1st Avenue across from the Dairy Queen? Weird. It's some people acting mighty odd. They're saying all sorts of strange things. I bet they've gotten into the four-year-old, fermented grape juice. Let's go check it out."

They arrived just in time to hear one excited member, Peter, start to speak to the onlookers. "Really, we're not drunk like you think," he called to them. "After all, it's just 9:00 on a Sunday morning and we're in worship. But today, God is fulfilling what He has promised for centuries - He's poured His Spirit into us. It's the greatest feeling in the world. Do you want to experience it? Just repent of your sins, turn to Jesus for forgiveness, and be baptized in His name. Then you'll be filled with the Holy Spirit, too."

Wow. Filled with the Holy Spirit. Acts 2 says that it's like being totally intoxicated with the love of Jesus, and being so excited about your faith that you can't sit still, and experiencing the power of Jesus so richly that you simply can't stop talking about Him! In other words, when the Holy Spirit fills you to overflowing, you gush all over about Jesus to others.

Remember, it was Jesus who said: "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses." (Acts 1:8)

Don't you just love that? Experiencing the power of Jesus so richly that we simply can't stop talking about Him! Let's pray for another overflowing of the Holy Spirit at Salem! Look out world, here we come!
