Address

"Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them." Acts 2:2-4

A Message from Rev. Linda...

Scripture

God also said to Moses, "Say to the people, 'The Lord, the God of your fathers - the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob - has sent me to you.'"  (Exodus 3:15)

God always speaks to us in the context of what He has done in the lives of those who have gone before us. When God confronted Moses, He did not give him an assignment independent of what He had already begun to do through those who had preceded Moses. God had made promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob hundreds of years earlier. He was now going to involve Moses in His ongoing activity to fulfill the covenant He had made with Moses' forefathers and with those who would follow for thousands of generations after Moses - Us!

Our wonderful Lord, who led Moses, who worked through Elijah, who directed Paul, who guided each woman and man of God through the centuries, is the same God who approaches us to become involved in His work. Friends - this is SO significant! Each one of us is a vital part of something much bigger than any of us alone.

We humans tend to think only of the present time. Even as we look forward to Thanksgiving and the celebration of blessings that we have received as citizens of our precious nation, we lack a sense of eternity. We easily forget those faithful generations of believers on whose hard work and high ideals our country has been built. To them, "In God we trust," truly meant trusting and obeying Him, not only for the day, but for an eternity.

God calls each of us to change the world for today's children and tomorrow's children's children. Generations yet unborn are depending upon our integrity, our commitment, and our faithfulness today that will echo long after we are gone. Their eternal futures depend upon our godly actions here and now.

Take a moment and remember those who have passed the love of Jesus Christ on to you and be thankful. Those special believers responded to God's challenge to go to you and to share the Gospel message.

Then, hear God calling to you: "I am the God of your ancestors. I will stretch out My hand through you. Are you willing to reach into the future just as those in your life have done?" My prayer is that you will reply with a resounding, "Here I am, Lord, send me."
